I am recruiting two caseworkers - closing date 23 August 2024.

Job Title: Caseworker (two posts)

Working For: Laurence Turner MP (Birmingham Northfield)

Location: Constituency office (initially in Longbridge)

Salary: £31,000

Length of Contract: Permanent (subject to successful completion of a probationary period)

Job Details

Laurence Turner MP is seeking to recruit two caseworkers to work and play a key role in a busy constituency office.

This role is full-time and constituency office-based, however requests for flexible working arrangements will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Responding to enquiries and securing improvements for residents of the Northfield constituency.
• Accurately and securely logging and maintaining casework records.
• Completing casework that is of a consistently high-standard and completed in a timely, sensitive, and professional manner.
• Assisting with surgery appointments and meetings if required.
• Working with external agencies and local voluntary organisations.
• Other duties as may be reasonably directed from time to time.

Personal specification, knowledge, and experience

The postholder should have:

• Experience of casework or a related role.
• A good writing style.
• A proven ability to manage a large and complex workload.
• Good IT skills – including knowledge of case management systems or databases.
• A professional manner and the ability to speak sensitively to people who may be experiencing challenging personal circumstances.
•Knowledge of Birmingham City Council, local voluntary organisations, and central government agencies (such as the Department of Work and Pensions) would be an advantage.
• A commitment to Labour values.

The postholder may be required to occasionally work outside of normal working hours.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
