The news that an agreement has been reached to resolve Birmingham’s equal pay liability has been welcomed as ‘historic’ and ‘good news for the city’s finances.’
Responding to the news, Laurence Turner, MP for Birmingham Northfield, said:
’This historic agreement sets out a route that will hopefully end Birmingham’s equal pay liability once and for all.
’The City Council’s leadership and trade unions deserve great credit for reaching this settlement.
‘The agreement to resolve the city’s equal pay liability is good news for the city’s finances - but we must also remember the women who fought for pay justice, and who were subject to detriment for too long.’
