Labour invests £20 million in Hawkesley
This is great news for Hawkesley and the wider Kings Norton south area.
I’m delighted that Hawkesley will receive £20 million in new community funding over the next decade, starting in April.
It’s a historic day for the community. This £20 million investment will change lives for the better in one of the most deprived parts of the Northfield constituency and Birmingham. Crucially, the funds will be spent on the community’s priorities.
I promised last year to fight for every part of the constituency. I’m delighted that Labour in government is putting real money into an area that has been neglected by politicians for too long.
I will work with all parts of the community in the months and years ahead to make sure this money benefits as many people as possible.
More information
The funding is awarded through the Government’s Pride of Place programme. More information can be found here.
Spending priorities will be set through a Neighbourhood Board which will include community representation, with an independent Chair.
Hawkesley has been selected as one of 169 areas in the whole country to receive the funding.
Residents can expect to hear more over the next couple of months about how they can make their voices heard.
