HS2 milestone
Public services
HS2 is changing Birmingham for the better and already creating jobs here in Northfield.
A major milestone was achieved this week as the Lawley Middleway viaduct was moved into place.
At 1,600 tonnes of UK-made steel, the structure is a triumph of British manufacturing and engineering.
In future, trains will go directly from Kings Norton to Moor Street - a short walk from the new Curzon Street station (and, I hope, one day those services will go from Northfield and Longbridge too).
There’s still a lot right to get right about this project, and I’m working as part of the Transport Select Committee to apply scrutiny and get best value for the taxpayer.
