Visiting the Stonehouse Gang youth club

It was great to spend time at The Stonehouse Gang Youth Club on Burnel Road earlier this week.

The Stonehouse Gang club sees about 400 people every week and it was full of life and energy when I visited. With a history stretching back to 1938, generations have passed through the club.

We had a good conversation about ways to support voluntary youth clubs, especially following the loss of council funding about a dozen years ago.

Youth centres in Birmingham are eligible at the moment for grants of between £5,000 and £100,000 under the ‘Better Youth Spaces’ programme - Birmingham is one of the 42 local authority areas that has been selected.
