On Monday, I visited Northfield Community Partnership (NCP).

At a time when public services are increasingly stretched, NCP provides an essential community safety net.

NCP provides or otherwise hosts an incredible range of services - including a food bank, a food pantry, employment and digital skills training, and health advice. Sadly, the need for its food support services is higher than ever.

Later in the week, I was privileged to spend some time at the ‘NAF Caf’ - a community cafe run by Northfield Arts Forum at the Baptist church. This ‘pay as you feel’ service provides a lifeline to many in the community. I spoke to people who said the cafe was a lifeline, and a place to find companionship when loneliness is a growing problem.

Community organisations are an essential part of our society, and if I am elected as MP then I will work with them and speak up for the third sector in Parliament.
